Loud Feelings MusicZine

Loud Feelings MusicZine is all about the sound of music, the captured images, the filmed sets, and the powerful words. Based out of San Antonio, Texas, Loud Feelings covers the sounds of the city, to the national, to the internationals.

This project is organized by two St. Mary's University students who have a passion for the music journalism field. We live for the music venues. Going to shows about every single night, we put music as our number one priority. We love not only hearing, but seeing, the passion that these musicians bring forth in each show.

Starting in April, Loud Feelings will be traveling around Texas and dipping their feet in the many other music venues around Texas. From Texas, Loud Feelings will begin taking longer road trips to different states (once we get enough money, as well) and will be experiencing the sound of music and be living our dream.

If you are in a band, feel free to contact us. Writing reviews for albums, eps, or just single songs is what we always look forward to. Not to mention building a relationship with these musicians means the world to us.

Be loud. Express your feelings. Join the Loud Feelings train and let's sing a long to life's theme songs one day at a time.

Loud Feelings Ideas > Business Class

My professors lecture never seems to end However, I can’t stop thinking about Loud Feelings. While being on the road for a billion jillion hours driving back home, I started thinking about this musiczine. Maybe…just maybe…we can turn this zine into an actual magazine, as well. This leads to my next thought. I think it’d be awesome if this musiczine/magazine be directed towards college students. I mean, of course this would be starting off… I feel as if most college students are at that age where they either listen to extremely shitty music or really great music. Thus, Loud Feelings could be the aide to the lost listeners and a best friend to the already great listeners. However, for issuing a magazine..problems arise. Loud Feelings centers around music AND film. It’s not possible for someone to watch a film by staring at a magazine (hence why we were leaning more towards the musiczine). Also, we were going to have at least two songs from each musician/band we cover as free downloads. We can’t do that with a magazine either. I kept on driving and driving…Conor Oberst started playing while I was driving…At The Bottom of Everything started playing…I started singing a long…God, this music is such a beautiful sound. That’s when the light bulb clicked: We can connect a CD and a DVD disk to the magazine. Nothing fancy or designed, but a cd full of all the people we covered and a dvd for the interview and/or their acoustic performance + more. The next step that has to be done is getting in contact with a lot of schools around the states and country. Since we are not asking for money from the readers or musicians, we are doing this out of our very own (empty) pockets. We want to make a deal with schools that let us send them X number of copies and they just have them at the Cafe/Library or wherever that students can access them for free. I really want Loud Feelings to escalade. I see so much hope and potential for this project. I am considering making this available to high schools, as well. I mean, in high school, I wish I had this sort of musiczine/magazine that gave me the chance to discover some of the most amazing musicians worldwide. My professor is still lecturing about Hawthorne studies or something. I feel her eyes stare at me. I need to learn how to type softer on this keyboard. The typing is getting louder and I still have a good 20 minutes left of class. This must be my cue to stop typing. As more ideas arise, I’ll be sure to jot them down. Cheers! -Krista De La Rosa

The Creation of Loud Feelings

  • Krista: So, I've been thinking...and I've been sick, so my thinking is more wild and nonsense-like. But! We should totally start a webpage! For like the music scene in San Antonio. It can be like a Magazine kind of thing, but more real. Like, we become actual friends with these musicians, the ones from here and from other places. We write about them, take pictures, and blah blah blah
  • Veronica: Yeah! Let's do it! I'm totally down forreal
  • : :fastforward::
  • Krista: What should the name of the magazine be?
  • Veronica: Hmmm...I don't knowwww. The Purple Bottle! Lol just kidding, this is hard!
  • Krista: Haha, I know!
  • Veronica: I keep looking at the purple bottle lyrics trying to turn them around.
  • Krista: That's actually a good stategy. You're in charge of the name. I'm the least bit creative, haha.
  • Veronica: Trapeze bird cage, purple lense, loud feelings, bottled heart, crushing high...lol idk!!!
  • Krista: I love Trapeze Bird Cage! Loud Feelings too! Ahh! You have to decide, haha
  • Veronica: Loud Feelings would make more sense since its a music magazine
  • Krista: Loud Feelings shall be it then!
Nothing but a joyous feeling erupted in the pit of my stomach when I heard the sounds of life and death all set before my very own eyes
